Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Peepl handles personal data during its adults-only closed beta.

Peepl is currently operated by Khuzaima Adnan as an individual in Saudi Arabia. This beta policy should be reviewed by qualified legal counsel before a public launch or expansion to additional countries.

1. Who controls your data

Khuzaima Adnan is the operator and data controller for Peepl. Privacy questions and requests can be sent to support@getpeepl.com.

2. Data we collect

  • Account information: email address, authentication records, user ID, username, display name, and date of birth.
  • Profile information: bio, avatar, interests, optional gender, country, city, and optional language metadata.
  • Content and activity: Voice Thoughts, text, photos, videos, comments, reactions, follows, saved items, Tables, reports, and blocks.
  • Private communications: direct messages, voice notes, conversation membership, and call-related technical records.
  • Technical information: app version, platform, session identifiers, device push token when you opt in, content-free product events, and crash diagnostics when Sentry is enabled.

Peepl does not intend to collect device GPS location, advertising identifiers, contact books, or payment information during the closed beta.

3. Why we use it

We use personal data to create and secure accounts, show profiles and posts, deliver voice and live features, enable messages and calls, provide notifications, prevent abuse, investigate reports, improve reliability, understand content-free beta usage, respond to support, and comply with applicable law.

Where required, we rely on your consent for optional features such as push notifications and optional profile details. Other processing is performed to provide the service you request, protect users and the service, or meet legal obligations as permitted by applicable law.

4. Who processes it

Peepl uses carefully limited service providers:

  • Supabase for authentication, database, storage, and server functions.
  • LiveKit for real-time audio and calls.
  • Expo for app delivery and, only after opt-in, generic push notifications.
  • Sentry for crash diagnostics when configured, with default personally identifiable information disabled.

We do not sell personal data and do not use it for behavioural advertising. Providers may process data outside Saudi Arabia under their own security and contractual controls; Peepl will assess cross-border requirements as the beta expands.

5. Push and analytics minimisation

Expo receives only a device push token, generic notification title and body, sound/channel settings, and a route to Peepl’s Notifications screen. It does not receive names, account or content IDs, message/post text, audio URLs, media URLs, or actor IDs from the dispatcher.

First-party product events exclude post and message text, names, email addresses, audio URLs, transcripts, precise location, and raw media.

6. Retention

  • Account, profile, content, and communication data remain while your account is active, unless you delete content earlier.
  • Push tokens remain until you opt out, the token becomes invalid, or the account is deleted.
  • Content-free product events are kept for up to 12 months for beta analysis.
  • Crash diagnostics are intended to be kept for no more than 90 days when Sentry is enabled.
  • Open safety reports may be kept for up to 12 months after resolution, or longer when reasonably necessary for serious safety, fraud, or legal matters.
  • Operational backups are intended to roll off within 30 days after deletion. Information required by law or needed to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims may be retained longer.

7. Your choices and rights

You can edit profile details, turn push notifications off, block users, delete content where the app offers that control, and permanently delete your account in Settings.

You may also contact us to ask what personal data we hold, request a copy, correct inaccurate information, request deletion, withdraw consent where processing relies on consent, or raise a complaint. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

8. Security and safety

We use access controls, row-level database protections, private storage for direct-message voice notes, encrypted connections, rate limits, restricted server secrets, and reporting/blocking tools. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Contact us promptly if you believe your account or data is at risk.

9. Adults only

The closed beta is for people aged 18 or older. Peepl is not directed to children. If we learn that an underage person created an account, we may suspend the account and delete the associated information.

10. Changes and contact

We may update this policy as the beta changes. Material changes will be communicated in the app or by another appropriate method. Contact support@getpeepl.com for privacy requests or concerns.
